The LWMA (Longshoremen’s and Warehousemen’s Memorial Association), affectionately known as the “Memorial Hall,” was established in 1944 by longshore workers as a place where union families and the Wilmington community could gather, support one another, and celebrate life’s milestones.
Today, that same spirit continues. Our newly renovated Wilmington event hall welcomes weddings, quinceañeras, memorials, meetings, celebrations, and community gatherings throughout the Los Angeles Harbor area while honoring the generations who built this space.
For decades, families have danced, toasted, remembered, and celebrated within these walls, and we’re proud to continue that tradition for the next generation.
The mission of LWMA is to preserve the legacy of our longshore community while providing an affordable, welcoming gathering space for families, organizations, and local events throughout Wilmington and the Los Angeles Harbor area.
For generations, Memorial Hall has served as a gathering place for:
LWMA members continue to receive special access and benefits that honor the hall’s original purpose of supporting longshore workers and their families.
